In fact, there is so much happening in the City of Culture this year it is hard to keep up. Many others great festivals are also being held in the city over the course of 2024 and are worthy of mention too, but we don’t have the details of those yet and we’ll be sure to highlight them when we do.

9. Derry Halloween
Derry's Halloween celebrations are now the stuff of myth and legend, and the city has been named the best place in the world for the Samhain season. The four day festival returns this year from October 28 to 31. Be sure not to miss it. Photo: Conor McClean

10. City of Derry International Choir Festival
Known the world over as the Music City and a City of Song, the Maiden City will host its annual City of Derry International Choir Festival from October 23 to 27 this year. Over 60 choirs from Ireland and right across the world will perform in the city, with concerts by world-renowned vocal groups, competitions for choirs, workshops and educational events for singers and conductors, as well as community concerts and choral trails in landmark locations across Derry and the surrounding area. 11. Foyle Film Festival
I know, I know, we said 10 but sure who's counting? This year's Foyle Film Festival will take place over 10 days in November with full details to be announced over the coming months. Established in 1987 and led by Nerve Centre, Foyle Film Festival is Northern Ireland's only Oscar® and BAFTA-affiliated film festival. It will celebrate its 37th year in 2024, and will again take place in venues across Derry, bringing the best of international cinema and industry players to the city.
