A river runs through the work of '˜Pink Ladies'writers

It's been a busy and creative year for all those involved with the Pink Ladies, but particularly members of the hugely talented Pink Ladies choir and the Pink Ladies Creative Writing Group.

Facilitated by local writer Jenni Doherty, recently, the Creative Writing Group took to the stage for a very special performance held in Waterloo Place.

On the theme of the River Foyle, both the choir and the Creative Writing Group, performed songs and created their own work performing to a large audience.

Ralf Alwani of Our Future Foyle, a community waterfront regeneration project for the Foyle, said: “The performances were both moving and connected with everyone who watched and listened. Not only the choir, but the readings from the Pink Ladies, connected the people’s relationship with the River Foyle and why it’s such an important place that resides in everyone’s memory.”

Today, in the Derry Journal, we publish for the first time those contemplations on the River Foyle by Derry women and Pink Ladies members Margaret Cassidy, Maureen Collins, Clare Cregan and Jacquie Loughrey, with photographs by Mickey Rooney.
