A masterpiece of 20th century fiction by the Strabane-born Brian O'Nolan aka Flann O'Brien aka Myles na gCopaleen, this hilarious meta-fictional novel features stories within stories and characters rebelling against their various authors' will. O'Nolan's first novel, it was published in 1939, the same year as Finnegan's Wake, whose author James Joyce upon reading it said it was the work of 'real writer' with the 'the true comic spirit'.
