Altnagelvin has 1.22% capacity to spare while total COVID-19 occupancy at Derry hospital is 4.59%

Altnagelvin has 1.22 per cent capacity left in the system while the total COVID-19 occupancy at the Derry hospital has risen to 4.59 per cent.

Four people were admitted to Altnagelvin with COVID-19 over the weekend.

Three people aged between 20 and 39 were among the admissions - a man on Friday and two women in that age group on Saturday.

A man in his 50s was also admitted on Friday.


At midnight on Sunday 23 people were being treated as coronavirus inpatients across all Western Trust hospitals.

Three of 10 (30%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; five (50%) were occupied by patients with other conditions and two (20%) were free.

Five ICU patients in total were being ventilated - one was a COVID-19 patient and four were non-COVID-19 patients.

In terms of general occupancy 4.59% of beds at Altnagelvin were ‘COVID-19 occupied’, 86.85% were ‘other occupied’ and there was 1.22% capacity left in the system; 7.34 % were ‘awaiting admission.’

There have been no further deaths.
