Altnagelvin has 5.31 per cent capacity in the system; four more COVID-19 admissions

Four more COVID-19 patients have been admitted to Altnagelvin while 116 confirmed coronavirus patients were being treated in Western Trust hospitals at midnight.

Two women, both aged in their 50s, and two men, one in his 40s and one in his 70s, were admitted to the Derry hospital on Thursday, according to Department of Health figures.

A hundred and sixteen people were being treated as coronavirus inpatients in Western Trust hospitals at midnight.

Six of eleven (54.55%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin are being used to treat COVID-19 patients; four (36.36%) are occupied by patients with other conditions. One bed is classed as free (9.09%).

The Trust has said 13 ICU beds are currently staffed and this can be increased to 16 if we move to 'extreme surge.'

In terms of general occupancy 20.35 per cent of beds at Altnagelvin are 'COVID-19 occupied', 71.98 per cent are 'other occupied' and the hospital has 5.31 per cent capacity left in the system: 2.36 per cent are 'awaiting admission' according to the latest data.

Five ICU patients in total are being ventilated - two are COVID-19 patients and three are non-COVID-19 patients.
