Derry COVID-19 creeps back towards 100 per 100k but still lowest in the north

The seven-day coronavirus rate in Derry and Strabane has been creeping up this week but still remains below 100 cases per 100,000 and the lowest in the north.

Between January 28 and February 3, there were 148 confirmed positive cases of the virus in the district giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 98.2, up from 96.9 yesterday.

It's the third day in a row the rate has risen, albeit the increases have been extremely small.

Derry/Strabane is still recording the lowest coronavirus rate in the north after Mid Ulster (284), Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (278.9), Newry, Mourne and Down (173.2), Antrim and Newtownabbey (164.7), Belfast (145.6), Mid and East Antrim (139.2), Causeway Coast and Glens (122.7), Ards and North Down (116.9), Fermanagh and Omagh (116.4) and Lisburn and Castlereagh (110.9).

The average prevalence rate for the north over the same seven day period was 170.3, down from 180.9 per 100,000 yesterday.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between February 2 and February 3 was 24.

In total 10.767 people have tested positive in Derry and Strabane since the start of the pandemic last year.
