Derry COVID-19 positivity (6.9%) highest in the north

Derry City and Strabane District Council recorded the highest COVID-19 positivity rate in the north last week, according to the Public Health Agency's Weekly Epidemiological Bulletin published today.

The highest positivity occurred in Derry and Strabane (6.9%). The north's proportion positive in week 14 was 2.6%, a decrease from 2.8% in week 13. This is lower than the peak positivity of 26.4% reported across Northern Ireland in week 53 (December 27, 2020 – January 3, 2021).

The case rates increased in Derry and Strabane, Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon, Causeway Coast and Glens, Fermanagh and Omagh and Newry, Mourne and Down in week 14 compared to week 13.

Case rates decreased in all other areas. Derry and Strabane had the highest rate in week 14 compared to other Local Government Districts (86.6 per 100,000 population). The overall rate rate increased from 33.5 to 36.6 per 100,000 population between weeks 13 and 14.
