Derry COVID-19 rate falls to 68.4 cases per 100,000 and is third lowest

The seven-day coronavirus rate in Derry and Strabane has fallen to 68.4 cases per 100,000 people and is now third lowest in the north.

Between February 12 and February 18, there were 103 confirmed positive cases of the virus in the district giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 68.4, down from 71 yesterday.

The last time it was lower was five months ago on September 18 when the rate was 63.7.

Derry/Strabane is still recording the third lowest coronavirus rate in the north. The lowest rates are in Fermanagh and Omagh (48.8) and Ards and North Down (64).

Rates are higher in Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon (194.7), Mid Ulster (193.9), Belfast (112.2), Antrim and Newtownabbey (94.6), Mid and East Antrim (94.5), Lisburn and Castlereagh (83.4), Causeway Coast and Glens (75.6) and Newry, Mourne and Down (73.3).

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between February 17 and February 18 was 17.

In total 11,024 people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
