Derry/Strabane COVID-19 case rate drops for fifth consecutive day

The seven-day coronavirus case rate per 100,000 has fallen in Derry/Strabane for the fifth day in a row, according to data released by Department of Health on Friday.

Between January 1 and January 7, there were 813 confirmed positive cases giving a seven day rate per 100,000 of 539.6.

This was down from rates of 605.3 yesterday, 672.3 on Wednesday, 734.1 on Tuesday, 738 cases on Monday, and 744 cases per 100,000 people on Sunday.

Five more patients - all under 70 - admitted to over capacity Altnagelvin with coronavirusThe average seven-day case rate for the north as a whole has also fallen again from 599.8 per 100,000 yesterday to 588.6 today.

The daily change in the cumulative number of patients with a positive test in Derry and Strabane between January 6 and January 7 was 75.

In total 9,849 Derry people have now tested positive for the illness in Derry and Strabane.
