First person in Ireland dies after testing positive for COVID-19

A patient has died after testing positive for COVID-19 in Ireland.

The patient was elderly and was from the east of the country, according to reports.

It is believed the patient presented with respiratory problems and subsequently tested positive for the deadly disease.

As of Tuesday March 10 there were 34 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland.

As of 2.00pm on Wednesday March 11 there were 18 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the North of Ireland.
