Imminence of vaccinations for 60-79s and clinically extremely vulnerable welcome progress says Karen Mullan

Progress on the vaccination roll-out has been welcomed with people aged 65-79 and the clinically extremely vulnerable likely to be offered jabs this month.

Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan said: “After being contacted by people over 70s and others who have family members with severe complex needs, I made representation to officials at the Department of Health for an update on the vaccine roll-out in Derry. I am pleased to hear that the over 80-year-olds should have received the first dose from their GP alongside progress on getting out to those over 70.”

She said she was hopeful of other vulnerable age cohorts getting vaccines soon.

“They have also indicated that by the end of February, the 65-69 and 70-79 age groups and the clinically extremely vulnerable can be vaccinated at their local vaccine centre. This is promising news and a step in the right direction. If you are in any of the above categories and haven’t been offered the vaccine by the end of February, you can get in touch with me on 028 71 377551.”
