Three more admitted with COVID-19 to Altnagelvin with 14.64% capacity left at Derry hospital

Three more people were admitted to Altnagelvin with COVID-19 over the weekend, according to the latest daily update published this afternoon

A man in his 40s was admitted to the Derry hospital on Friday.

A man and a woman were admitted yesterday. The woman was aged between 20 and 39 while the man was in his 50s.

At midnight on Sunday 42 people were being treated as coronavirus inpatients across Western Trust hospitals.

Death of man aged over 80 brings total Derry/Strabane COVID-19 toll to 133

Six of 12 (50%) ICU beds at Altnagelvin were being used to treat COVID-19 patients; three (25%) were occupied by patients with other conditions and three (25%) were free.

Six ICU patients in total were being ventilated - four were COVID-19 patients and two were non-COVID-19 patients.

In terms of general occupancy 9.03% of beds at Altnagelvin were ‘COVID-19 occupied’, 75.08% were ‘other occupied’ and the hospital had 14.64% capacity left in the system: 1.29% were ‘awaiting admission.’
