24 hour vigil with the Lord at St Eugene's Cathedral

Pope Francis has asked each Diocese to dedicate a period of “24 hours for the Lord” on the 4th and 5th March. St Eugene’s Cathedral, one of the designated four centres of Mercy in the Derry Diocese, is inviting local people to be part of this time of prayer and Eucharistic Adoration.

If you are willing to commit to spend an hour with the Lord please sign the sheets at the back of you local Church indicating the time you are available.

The church is especially looking for people to pray and be with the Lord during the night.”

The vigil at St Eugene’s Cathedral will begin at 12 noon on Friday and continue until 12 noon on Sunday with prayers and adoration right through the night.

Bishop Donal McKeown said: “It is in prayer that we encounter the Lord. Prayer is essential for life-long healing.”

There are also a number of services taking place in churches across the city for Lent, and for the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

St Columba’s Church Celebrates The Year Of Mercy As part of the Year of Mercy the Long Tower Church are Exposing the Relic of the True Cross this Friday.

They will also have first Friday Confessions from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm and 6.30 pm to 7.20 pm.

You are invited to spend some time in prayer before the Relic of the True Cross.

There will also be the opportunity to seek God’s forgiveness in Confession.
