Bangor Choral Festival: Derry singers encouraged to enter

Derry singers are being encouraged to enter the 2016 Bangor International Choral Festival, which is this year being supported by George Best Belfast City Airport.

Now in its 23rd year, the festival will take place from 20th-23rd April at St. Comgall’s Parish Centre in Bangor and attracts attention from a broad spectrum of high-standard choirs from Northern Ireland, the UK, Europe and even as far as the Philippines.

The closing date for applicants is this Saturday, 6th February and categories include primary schools, secondary and grammar, special schools, gospel choirs, barbershop and folk groups.

Margaret McDowell, Festival Chairperson, said: “The competition is always a highlight of the Northern Ireland musical calendar and, yet again, we look forward to showcasing some wonderful international talent.“I encourage all choirs, locally and afar, to enter before the deadline of 6th February.”
