Derry man Aaron McEneff has completed a move to Scottish Championship leaders Hearts.

The Shamrock Rovers midfielder joins the Edinburgh side on a two and a half year deal after completing a deadline day move this afternoon.

The 25-year-old, who had two fantastic years with the Hoops, winning both the FAI Cup in 2019 and the Premier Division title last season, was called into Stephen Kenny's Ireland squad for last November’s Nations League game against Bulgaria.

McEneff, who netted 18 goals in 59 games for Stephen Bradley's side, will pull on the No.18 jersey for the Jambos.

Sporting Director Joe Savage revealed that Aaron is a player he’s been tracking for quite some time.

“Aaron is someone that I’ve been looking at for the best part of four years and I’m delighted that we’ve been able to bring him to Hearts.

“He’s been one of Ireland’s standout players for a couple of years now, evidenced by his recent international call up.

“I’m sure the fans are going to be excited by him; he’s really energetic, a box-to-box midfielder who can chip in with goals as well."

The ex-Institute starlet who previously had been on the books at Tottenham Hotspur, made his professional debut with Derry City in 2015.

The midfielder scored 25 goals in 95 league appearances for the Candystripes, including ten goals in the 2018 campaign and also that season won the League Cup with his home town club.
