AXA move roles from Dublin to North West

Derry based insurance provider AXA have this afternoon confirmed that a number of jobs will be moved from their Dublin offices to their base in Derry.

It’s been suggested by prominent trade union UNITE in the Republic, that a ‘significant’ number of jobs are understood to be at risk in Dublin with unconfirmed numbers at 108. However it remains unclear at this stage exactly what operations are being moved to Derry.

AXA officials would not confirm on Friday afternoon how many roles would be moved to the North West or if any additional jobs would be created at it’s Northland Road base as a result of the decision.

A spokesperson said: “AXA Insurance operates on an all Island basis and following a review of its business processes has decided in the interests of efficiency and customer service to consolidate some of its operations, which will involve the relocation of some roles from Dublin to Derry. Net job losses will be small and the company is confident this can be achieved on a voluntary basis.

“AXA will not be commenting on any specific details as discussions with employee representatives are ongoing.”

The company’s Irish headquarters are in Dublin although they’re understood to employ in the region of 1,000 people across the island of Ireland with approximately 700 of these currently employed in Dublin.
