Between five and ten confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Derry and Strabane, according to the latest Public Health Agency (PHA) data.

As of 11.15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 25, testing had resulted in 37 new positive cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the north to 209.

To date, seven people who have tested positive in the north have sadly died.

The latest daily surveillance report.shows that over the previous 24 hours there had been 37 new confirmed cases; and 383 more tests.

Three new deaths were confirmed.

Between five and ten confirmed cases have been reported in Derry and Strabane compared with between 40 and 60 in Belfast.

However, of the 3372 tests in the north sofar 342 have been conducted in the Western Trust, the lowest number of tests in any health authority, compared with 1,283 in the Belfast Trust, the highest number of tests.

Cases are predominantly clustered within Belfast LGD areas of residence.

There have now been 1773 confirmed cases in Ireland - 1564 in the south and 209 in the north.

Sixteen people have now died from the illness in Ireland - nine in the south and seven in the north.
