Coronavirus: Sixty-three cases (2.1%) of COVID-19 in Donegal as Irish death toll rises to 115

Sixty-three cases (2.1%) of COVID-19 confirmed in the south by midnight on Monday were in Donegal, the National Public Health Emergency Team have confirmed.

As of Wednesday there have been 4136 confirmed cases in Ireland - 3447 in the south and 689 in the north.

A hundred and fifteen people have now died from the illness in Ireland - 85 in the south and 30 in the north.

Today’s data from the HPSC in Dublin reveal that, as of midnight, Monday, March 30, (2,990 cases), reveals: 48% are male and 50% are female, with 134 clusters involving 563 cases.

The median age of confirmed cases is 48 years and 834 cases (28%) have been hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, 126 cases have been admitted to ICU.

752 cases (25%) are associated with healthcare workers.

In Donegal there were 63 confirmed cases (2.1%), a rise of 17 from 46 on Sunday.

The county had the eleventh highest number of confirmed cases in the 26 counties.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 1,645 (55% of all cases) followed by Cork with 255 cases (8%)

Of those for whom transmission status is known: community transmission accounts for 60%, close contact accounts for 21%, and travel abroad accounts for 19%.

Since yesterday 14 patients diagnosed with COVID-19 in the south have died.

Ten deaths were located in the east, and 4 in the south.

The patients included 7 females and 7 males and 8 patients were reported as having underlying health conditions.

There have now been 85 COVID-19 related deaths in the south with the median age of deaths, 82.
