A man appeared at Derry Magistrates’ Court in Bishop Street on Monday charged with a series of offences alleged to have occurred on July 18.
Matthew Anderson (25) of Heron Way in the Waterside area of Derry appeared charged with four offences of assaulting police, one charge of disorderly behaviour in the Abercorn Road area of the cityside, two charges of attempted criminal damage, one to a police vehicle and one to a shop, assault on a man and possessing an offensive weapon, namely a fence post.
Defence solicitor Seamus Quigley told Derry Magistrates’ Court on Monday that there would be no application for bail at this stage in proceedings and he asked the court to adjourn the case until July 23 when there could possibly be a plea from the defendant.
The case was adjourned and the defendant is due to appear again at Bishop Street courthouse on July 23.
