Man admits burglaries and attempted burglaries in three Derry restaurants
A man will be sentenced in October after he admitted a series of burglaries and attempted burglaries in three Derry restaurants.
John Patrick McGilloway (43) whose address was given as Maghaberry Prison appeared at Derry Crown Court on Wednesday.
McGilloway was charged with entering the Ricebowl in the Racecourse Road as a trespasser with intent to steal on a date between February 1 and April 1, 2023.
He was further charged with attempted burglary at the Pickled Duck restaurant on the Greenhaw Road on April 19, 2023 and with attempted burglary at Chilli's on the Strand Road on a date between May 6 and May 9, 2023.
When the charges were put to him, McGilloway pleaded guilty to all three.
Defence counsel Stephen Mooney said that the defendant had been in custody for a very long time.
A pre-sentence report was ordered for September 16 and McGilloway will be sentenced on October 6.
