Man before court on foot of arrest warrant granted bail
A man who appeared before Derry Magistrate's Court on foot of an arrest warrant has been granted bail on condition that he lodge a £4,000 cash surety.
Robert Robertson with an address at Roodlands Road, Girvan in Ayrshire in Scotland appeared after being arrested at 7am in the morning on foot of a warrant.
Police objected to bail on the grounds that Robertson lived outside the jurisdiction and had failed to answer his bail in the past month.
A defence solicitor said that his client resided in Scotland but travelled back and forth selling cars and had a business address at Cookstown Road in Moneymore.

He added that Robertson had recently been in hospital but had been in the North 'on and off' over the past month.
The solicitor said that the defendant had £4,000 in cash in his property and hoped to pay compensation to his alleged victim.
The court was told that the compensation in this case was £4,500 as Robertson was facing a charge of fraud by false representation on a date between January 16, 2026 and April 3, 2026.
District Judge Conor Heaney said that the defendant had 'pulled the wool over the court's eyes' in the past.
But he said he would grant bail with conditions including residing at an address approved by police, a £4,000 cash surety that would be lost if Robertson failed to turn up for court, that he resided in the jurisdiction and reported to police three times a week.
The defendant will appear again on September 23.
