The charge relates to an incident in the early hours of March 18.

Derry Magistrate’s Court heard police were called to a disturbance involving up to ten people, who were all shouting at each other.

Lishman was in this group and he was arrested for breach of bail.

As he was removed from the property, he lunged himself at another man and hit him on the cheek.

It was revealed the 27-year-old was in breach of a suspended sentence.

Defence solicitor Kevin Casey said alcohol addiction is at the ‘root of Lishman’s offending’ and his problems are ‘all too common in this society’.
