Damage caused to panels in Ebrington

Police in Derry are investigating after damage was caused to glass panels in Ebrington Square in the city last month.

The panels were damaged in two separate incidents and will cost up to £6,000 to repair.

Inspector Vince Redmond said: “The incident was reported to police on November 13 and enquiries are continuing.

“It was reported that two glass panels were damaged. The first incident is believed to have occurred on November 9, at around 11:20pm. The second incident is believed to have been caused on November 12, shortly after 9:40pm.”

A spokesperson for The Executive Office said that three glass panels were damaged due to suspected vandalism.

“It is estimated that the cost of replacing each of the damaged panels will be between £1,500 and £2,000. A contractor has been appointed to replace the panels and the work will be carried out as soon as possible.”
