PSNI believe viable device in north Co. Derry was planted in attempt to target part-time police officer
The PSNI believe a viable device discovered at a main road in north County Derry was planted in an attempt to target a part-time police officer.
ACC Mark McEwan, Head of the PSNI’s Crime Operations Department, said: “I can confirm that the device is viable and investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“We are treating this as an attack on a member of staff who also serves her community as a part time police officer.”
The Ballyquin Road remains closed between the junctions with the Camnish Road and the Curragh Road at Bovevagh.
The closure follows the report of a suspicious object that was made to police yesterday..
Road users are advised to avoid the area and seek alternative main routes for their journey.
