Detectives from the Investigation Unit, with support from local district police officers, on Thursday conducted a search in Creggan as part of an ongoing investigation into violent dissident republican activity.

A man was arrested as part of that operation and taken to Musgrave police Station before later being released.

Police said yesterday that the operation was in relation to “our ongoing enquiry into a number of violent gun attacks on members of the Derry/Londonderry community over recent months”.

A number of electronic items were seized and searches of land and outbuildings were also conducted during the operation.
