Tommy Mullan from the Galliagh Residents’ Association said that the people of Derry had a right to question those standing for election or re-election.

Mr Mullan said: “There have been debates in Belfast and Castledawson, why are they not coming down to the Maiden City to the Guildhall?

“This is a city with growing dependence on foodbanks; where unemployment is at its highest. Investment isn’t coming to Derry.

“We are being treated as not second, but third class citizens and I would like to see the parties coming to the Guildhall and an open door policy for the audience. People should be allowed to freely ask the questions that are important to them.

“The politicians need to come and meet the people of Derry who are going to vote for them.”
