The Derry woman who is organising a collection of items to help the starving people of Syria will have a lorry at Ebrington Square tomorrow for anyone who wants to make a donation.

Joan Ghali has been moved to action by the plight of the people of Madaya and other regions of Syria who are being starved due to blockades and the ongoing conflict in the area.

She is hoping the people of Derry will rally behind her and donate non-perishable food items, nappies, basic toiletries, blankets and warm clothing to her appeal.

She has secured use of a lorry to transport the items to the Syrian border where she intends to hand them over to the Red Cross and other humanitarian organisations.

The lorry will be at Ebrington Square between 12 noon and 5pm tomorrow.
