Call for reopening public buildings

Sinn Féin Councillor Patricia Logue has called on Derry City and Strabane District Council and other statutory bodies to look at the reopening of many public buildings and facilities that have been closed in the city since the COVID lockdown.

Colr. Logue said: “We have been contacted by constituents and users of several public buildings and facilities in the city asking when they will be reopening.

“These buildings have been closed since the onset of the COVID restrictions came into place, but many believe places such as the Creggan Sports Hall and the Brandywell Dog Track should now be safely reopened within the updated guidelines.

“I am calling on Council and other statutory bodies to look at reopening them as soon as its possible as their continued closure is having an impact on the user groups and individuals that use them.”
