Green areas clean up secured after campaign

Colr. Logue said that this follows long protracted problems over the ownership and vesting of green spaces there.

She said: “I have been working closely with residents for some time now to try and find a resolution over the ownership of the greenspaces in the development and who was responsible for the tending to them. This would involve grass cutting, overgrown vegetation and the general up keep of all these areas.

“I have been in discussions with the Department for Communities(DFC) and Derry City and Strabane District Council to see if we could come up with a lasting resolution around the vesting and ownership of these green spaces.

“Finally, there is a bit of light at the end of the tunnel as the DFC have said they are now working with the Council to try and get this resolved as quickly as possible. And they have also agreed to carry out a clean-up of these areas. Residents will welcome this, as they have been trying like myself to get answers for such a long time and were very frustrated coming out of their homes each day seeing the state of the green spaces there.
