The approval for the park at lands adjacent to Little Acorns Pre-School and opposite the Cosh Bar follows an extensive community engagement process with local families in the area.

The new park will include play equipment, safety surfacing, seats, access infrastructure and landscaping works.

"I am delighted that the Coshquin Play Park project has reached this important stage after a significant community engagement and design process in recent years," said the Chair of the Committee, Councillor Christopher Jackson.

"As a Council, outdoor play provision for children is a key priority in our Strategic Growth Plan and we have invested significantly in parks and facilities throughout the District over recent years.

"We believe the provision of outdoor play facilities is critically important both for the health and wellbeing of our young people and in offering a focal point for parents to meet while their children play."

Other successful applications for community facilities at Wednesday's Virtual Planning meeting, broadcast live on Council's YouTube channel, included a new amenity space at Claudy, a new bus shelter in Park Village, a ball stop at Newbuildings Playing Pitches and Community Centre Signage at Trench Road.
