Euro 2016: Anger over Northern Ireland flag gaffe

Northern Ireland fans were left furious yesterday afternoon when Sky Sports mistakenly displayed the Irish tricolour instead of the Ulster Flag.

Northern Ireland lost to Poland on Sunday

Michael O’Neill’s team made history in Nice on Sunday when they competed in their first ever game at a European Championships finals.

Northern Ireland lost 1-0 to Poland but when reporting on the result after the match had finished Sky Sports used the Irish tricolour instead of the Ulster Flag.

“This is a disgrace, I hope Sky Sports issue an apology - do they not realise how politically sensitive this issue is,” said one Northern Ireland fan.

“Sky Sports clearly know something about a United Ireland that we don’t,” said another football fan.
