For the love of Ireland - it's Paddy NOT Patty!

If you’re from Ireland you’ll know March 17 as St. Paddy’s Day but log on to social media and you’ll find thousands of people wishing one another a ‘happy St. Patty’s Day’.

In the grand scheme of problems referring to March 17 as St. Patty’s Day is pretty far down the list but every year it never fails to raise its head and annoy people.

A ‘Patty’ is a term used by Americans to describe a flat, rounded serving of ground meat. A good term of reference would be homemade burgers made using minced steak.

So, when you take the definition of the aforementioned ‘Patty’ you can understand why hearing or reading it makes Irish peoples’ blood boil.

The issue has got so out of hand that one Irish person has set-up a website called www.paddynotpatty.com“A modest proposal to the people of the new world - let’s make ‘Patty’ Paddy again,” reads the website.
