Heartbreak as 11-year-old boy dies following Buncrana collision

An 11-year-old boy who was seriously injured in a road traffic collision in Buncrana on Friday, February 21 has sadly passed away.

The child was seriously injured in the collision on Slavery Rd, Tullyarvan, Co Donegal, after he was struck by a van at approximately 5.30om on Friday.

He was pronounced dead at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast this evening, Sunday, February 23, having been transferred from Altnagelvin Area Hospital, Derry on Saturday morning. Investigating Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses to this collision.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information regarding the collision, particularly any road users with camera footage who were travelling on the Slavery Road between 5.15pm and 5.45pm on 21st February 2020, to contact Buncrana Garda Station on 00353 74 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station
