So, the ‘Journal’ has compiled a list of ways to show your four-legged love how much they really mean to you this Valentine’s Day – some of these won’t cost a penny either!
Remember to always make sure any products you give your pet are dog friendly and check with your vet if you are unsure.

9. Let them shred!
Shredding is a natural way for dogs to let of steam and explore the world around them. A lot of younger dogs and puppies will destroy their beds, toys and other possessions, much to the frustration of their owners. Giving them a healthy outlet to shred reportedly reduces the amount of unwanted destruction in your home. Try giving your dog an iceberg lettuce or an empty cardboard box and see how much they love ripping it to pieces. The cleanup might not be very fun after but it's better than paying for another bed! 10. Tug of war
Playing tug-of-war with your dog is a perfect way to bond and get some of that pent up energy out. Pulling a rope or toy gets the dog mentally engaged and connected to it's owner and even 10 minutes of play can be enough to tire them out. You can also let your dog win sometimes to boost their confidence and no, it won't make them think they're the boss! Photo: Milan - stock.adobe.com
