Derry Girls Season 2 a big hit on Netflix
The Channel 4 comedy pennned by Lisa McGee has proved a massive success with fans of the show in countries right across the globe, who have been lighting up Twitter once more with the hashtag #derrygirls.
The hilarious cross-community trip in episode 1 and the emotional finale, which recreated Bill Clinton’s visit to Derry in the 1990s, seems to have struck a chord with viewers watching and rewatching the series on the streaming platform at the weekend.

Another posted: “I’ve just bingewatched the 2nd series of #DerryGirls on @netflix and loved every daft second of it. But the final couple of scenes of the final ep and specifically the Bill Clinton clip were actually bloody moving!”
Meanwhile the show continues to amass a legion of international fans. One viewer from LA Tweeted yesterday: “I’ve started watching #DerryGirls about 500 years after everyone else.... Anyway, I’m kind of loving how these disaster children never seem to succeed at anything they put their minds to.”
And it looks like Season 3 is very much still on, despite setbacks due to COVID-19, as Nicola Coughlan, who plays Clare Devlin in the show, told fans on Twitter: “We’ll be making Series 3 as soon as Covid permits but just thank you for your continued, incredible support. It means so much to us xxx”
