Long's SuperValu, Newbuildings, is to get a new entrance after a new planning application was lodged with Derry City & Strabane District Council.

The existing accesses at the grocery store in Duncastle Road in the village is to be filled in to match the existing unit.

A planning statement – prepared by Whittaker & Watt Architects Ltd. for Musgrave Retail Partners NI Limited – states: “The proposed relocation of the customer entrance and the infilling of the former entrance openings constitute minor external alterations to an established retail premise.

"The development will maintain the visual appearance of the building by using finishes to match the existing materials. The development will not alter the nature or intensity of the existing retail use, and will have no unacceptable impact on neighbouring amenity, highway safety, or the character of the surrounding area.”

The application now awaits a decision from the DC&SD Planning Committee.
