RES to consult public on proposals to repower Altahullion windfarms
Two information events are to take place in Claudy and Burnfoot to update the public on proposals to repower the Altahullion windfarms near Dungiven.
Renewable energy specialists RES have been operating a windfarm in Drum in north County Derry for over twenty years.
Alongside the The Renewables Infrastructure Group (TRIG) the firm has been ‘working on a proposal to repower the existing Altahullion I & II Wind Farm located in the townlands of Drum and Glenconway, three kilometres north of Foreglen’, a public notice has advised.
“RES is keen to engage with the local community and as part of our pre-application consultation we are holding two public exhibitions in the local area to share more information about the project and to enable you to provide us with your feedback.

"Members of the project team will be on hand to answer any questions or queries, and comment forms will be available to gather valuable feedback,” the notice adds.
The first consultation event will take place in The Diamond Centre in Claudy, from 4pm to 8pm on Wednesday, June 24.
A second event will take place in the Burnfoot Community Centre on the Drumrane Road from 4pm to 8pm on Thursday, June 25.
RES also intends launching an online exhibition for public viewing from June 24.
The Altahullion windfarm was originally commissioned in 2003 and at one stage was Ireland’s largest such renewable energy complex.
The proposal is at pre-application stage with the prospect of an application being made to the Strategic Planning Directorate at the Department for Infrastructure at a later stage.
