Derry painter Tico the Shetland pony is set to make an appearance at Brew and Bite Café, where he will help attendees pick their tarot cards during the Halloween season.

Brew and Bite said their upcoming Halloween collaboration with animal charity Happy Hooves is one of their most exciting events yet.

Tico the pony will select the tarot cards, which will then be read by a witch for personal readings. Each reading will be followed by coffee and a pastry, and guests will also have the opportunity to take photographs with the ponies.

Importantly, 50% of all proceeds will go directly to Happy Hooves, a Derry‑based charity devoted to providing equine‑assisted therapy, making this both a fun Halloween experience for the community and a chance to support the valuable work of a local organisation.

Tickets cost £20 per person for card readings on October 30.

The owners of Brew and Bite said their vision from the beginning was to be more than a café serving coffee and food.

They said: “We want the café to be a welcoming, inclusive and safe space where people can meet, connect and feel part of the local community.

“Community spirit, inclusion, mindfulness and wellbeing are important to what we are building. As an independent local business, we want to support the community that supports us by working with local charities and organisations and creating events that bring people together.”

Bookings are now open and can be made by contacting Brew & Bite through Facebook or by calling into the café at 61 Strand Road.
