Pilgrims walk to Lough Derg

Pilgrims from Derry are set to walk to Lough Derg in June as part of the Jubilee Year of Mercy.

The Derry Diocesan pilgrimage to Lough Derg takes place from June 17-19. However pilgrims can choose to leave two days early and walk to St Patrick’s Purgatory, before beginning the gruelling three day pilgrimage.

For those who do not want to walk a bus will be available.

Local pilgrimages will take place on May 8th in Carndonagh, June 5th in Dungiven, July 10th in Omagh and September 11th in Long Tower. The pilgrimages will begin at 2pm with Sacrament of Reconciliation, procession and Mass.

There will be a pilgrimage to Knock in early August on a date to be confirmed. From July 20th-24th there will be the Cursillo Walk to Knock. Plans are also afoot for a climb of Croagh Patrick in September.

A pilgrimage to Lourdes will take place July 1st-6th and to Rome and Assisi from September 2nd-8th. For more information on these pilgrimages, please contact your local Parish Office.
