Dominic Rabb says Jeremy Hunt will say more about delayed £400 payment to households on Thursday

The British Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Raab has promised Chancellor Jeremy Hunt will provide details of the £400 Energy Bill Support Scheme for households in the north in his 2022 autumn budget statement on Thursday.

The delivery of the energy support scheme has been delayed in the north as a result of no Executive being in place.

DUP MP Jeffrey Donaldson asked Mr. Raab about the payment this afternoon in the British House of Commons.

"Will the Deputy Prime Minister assure me that the £400 energy payment that is due to be made to households in Northern Ireland will be announced as soon as possible?" he asked.

£400 has been promised to support households.

Mr. Raab replied: "The Chancellor will be saying more on the economic measures and the particular fiscal measures he referred to tomorrow."

Last week the Northern Ireland Office (NIO) Minister Steve Baker said they roll-out of the payment had been delayed because there was no Executive at Stormont.

He stated: "Efforts have been hampered very substantially by not having an Executive and I just say that we all should acknowledge that without an Executive these things are more difficult to deliver."
