WATCH: Boris Johnson fails miserably to correctly pronounce Irish girls’ name ‘Ciara’

Let’s face it, British Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, has found himself in hot water with comments made about Ireland in the past but is it too much to ask a man with such an illustrious education to pronounce Irish names correctly?

Mr. Johnson failed to pronounce Irish girls’ name ‘Ciara’ correctly at the beginning Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons on Wednesday afternoon.

“The whole house will want to join me in extending our condolences to the family and friends of all those who sadly lost their lives as a result of Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis,” said Mr. Johnson.

The correct pronunciation of ‘Ciara’ only has two syllables but for some reason, Mr. Johnson added a third and pronounced the name similar to the way one would pronounce the word tiara - a headdress accessory worn by women.

Mr. Johnson went on to answer questions on the recent flooding in some parts of England and Wales and also answered a question on the prosecution of former British soldiers under investigation for their actions in the North of Ireland during the Troubles.
