Security alert in Derry : Nothing untoward found

The security alert close to the House in the Wells ended shortly before midnight on Monday.

The two hour operation saw police block off access as motorists were advised to avoid the area and seek alternative routes for their journey.

It was later confirmed by a PSNI spokesperson: “ATO examined a suspicious object discovered in the area and have declared it to be nothing untoward.”

Sinn Féin MLA Karen Mullan said: “This has caused significant disruption in the area tonight particularly the vulnerable people who use the House of the Wells and the many older people who live nearby.”
