Shock after sudden death of St. Columb's College teacher
Tributes are pouring in for a teacher at St. Columb's College who died suddenly on Wednesday.
Ms. Patricia Hughes was a highly respected English teacher at the school.
SDLP MLA for Foyle and former St. Columb’s College pupil, Mark H. Durkan, said his thoughts and prayers were with Ms. Hughes’ family.
“The sad and shocking passing of Ms. Hughes will send shock waves through the city,” said Mr. Durkan.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with her family and the wider St Columb’s family, staff and pupils past and present. #
“Patricia educated and inspired thousands with her love of literature and love of life. May she rest in peace.”
As a mark of respect St. Columb’s College has cancelled the school sports day and pupils from years 8,9,10 and 11 are not required to come in.
