In 2004, the Mayor of the city, Gearoid O’hEara in partnership with the Junction, initiated a consultation process for a “Day of Reflection to “reflect a sincere, authentic tribute to all who have lost their lives as a result of war and conflict and for all those who still live with the pain and memory of that loss”.

Derry’s Elisha McCallion, proposes holding a Day of Reflection in May this year and to this end a City Centre Forum event will take place next Tuesday, 9th February from 1.30pm-4pm on Tuesday to hear perspectives on the planned Day of Reflection so that it can be an event which is inclusive of all the complex narratives and lost lives in historic conflicts.
