Sports complex sod cutting

Sports minister Carál Ní Chuilín is in Dungiven on Friday (February 26) for the official sod cutting on a new £2.8 million sports complex at the site on Curragh Road at 2.30pm.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council finally backed plans for the development last month. The scheme has been in the pipeline for a number of years, starting from the former Limavady Borough Council, but councillors on the unionist-dominated Causeway Council had disagreed over a shortfall in funding, rejecting plans on several occasions.
