Coronavirus: Fifteen cases (1%) of COVID-19 in Donegal

Fifteen cases of COVID-19 confirmed in the south by midnight on Wednesday were in Donegal, the National Public Health Emergency Team have confirmed.

There have now been 2396 confirmed cases in Ireland - 2121 in the south and 275 in the north.

Thirty-five people have now died from the illness in Ireland - 22 in the south and 13 in the north.

The geographical breakdown provided by the Department of Health in Dublin tonight however used only the 1,639 cases that had been confirmed in the south by midnight on Wednesday.

The data reveal: 54% are male and 46% are female, with 79 clusters involving 317 cases.

The median age of confirmed cases is 46 years and 419 cases (26%) have been hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, 59 cases have been admitted to ICU.

375 cases (23%) are associated with healthcare workers

In Donegal there were 15 confirmed cases (1%).

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 922, (56% of all cases) followed by Cork with 171 cases (10%).

Of those for whom transmission status is known; community transmission accounts for 52%, close contact accounts for 22%, and travel abroad accounts for 26%.
