Coronavirus: Forty-six cases (1.7%) of COVID-19 in Donegal as Irish death toll rises to 99

Forty-six cases (1.7%) of COVID-19 confirmed in the south by midnight on Sunday were in Donegal, the National Public Health Emergency Team have confirmed.

As of Tuesday there have been 3821 confirmed cases in Ireland - 3235 in the south and 586 in the north.

Ninety-nine people have now died from the illness in Ireland - 71 in the south and 28 in the north.

Today’s data from the HPSC in Dublin reveal that, as of midnight, Sunday, March 29, (2,677 cases), 49% are male and 49% are female, with 118 clusters involving 494 cases.

Twenty-two per cent of clusters were located in private houses, 20% were located in nursing homes and 18% were located in hospitals

The median age of confirmed cases is 47 years and 703 cases (26%) have been hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, 113 cases have been admitted to ICU.

647 cases are associated with healthcare workers.

In Donegal there were 46 confirmed cases (1.7%), a rise of 10 from 36 on Saturday.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 1,487 (55% of all cases) followed by Cork with 238 cases (9%)

Of those for whom transmission status is known: community transmission accounts for 51%, close contact accounts for 26%, and travel abroad accounts for 23%.
