Coronavirus: One hundred and three cases (2.1%) of COVID-19 in Donegal as Irish death toll rises to 244

One hundred and three cases (2.1%) of COVID-19 confirmed in the south by midnight on Saturday were in Donegal, the National Public Health Emergency Team have confirmed.

As of Monday there have now been 6522 confirmed cases in Ireland - 5364 in the south and 1158 in the north.

Two hundred and forty-four people have now died from the illness in Ireland - 174 in the south and 70 in the north.

The latest data for Donegal released tonight but referring only to cases that had been analysed up until midnight on Saturday show there have now been 103 cases in the county (2.1% of all cases in the 26 counties).

Today’s data from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, reveal that as of midnight, Saturday, April 4, 2020, (4,916 cases), 46% are male and 54% are female, with 260 clusters involving 989 cases.

The median age of confirmed cases is 49 years and 1,265 cases (26%) have been hospitalised.

Of those hospitalised, 169 cases have been admitted to ICU.

A total of 1,263 cases (26%) are associated with healthcare workers.

In Donegal there were 103 confirmed cases (2.1%), a rise of 22 from 81 on Friday.

Dublin has the highest number of cases at 2,692 (55% of all cases) followed by Cork with 362 cases (7%).

Of those for whom transmission status is known: community transmission accounts for 65%, close contact accounts for 23%, and travel abroad accounts for 12%.
