Gregory Campbell 12/1 to replace Arlene Foster as DUP leader with Edwin Poots a clear favourite with punters

Edwin Poots (7/4), Jeffrey Donaldson (3/1) and Gavin Robinson 5/1 are currently the front-runners with the bookmaker BoyleSports.

Mrs. Foster announced this afternoon that she would be stepping down as DUP leader and First Minister within weeks.

Most of the party’s 27 assembly members and reportedly four of its eight Westminster MPs signed letters calling for a new leader and now punters are turning to Edwin Poots to be the one who replaces her.

The Minister for Agriculture, Environment, and Rural Affairs, Edwin Poots, is the 7/4 favourite to take over with those odds cut from 11/4 with BoyleSports.

Jeffrey Donaldson is next in line according to the latest odds with the Member of Parliament for Lagan Valley into 3/1 from 5/1. Former Lord Mayor of Belfast Gavin Robinson is 5/1 for the role while another former Lord Mayor of Belfast Sammy Wilson, is 7/1.

Longer shots include Carla Lockhart (10/1), Ian Paisley (11/1), Gregory Campbell (12/1), Paul Girvan (25/1), Jim Shannon (33/1) and Nigel Dodds (40/1).

It hasn’t taken long for punters to back her replacement as we have made Edwin Poots the 7/4 favourite with those odds cut from 11/4. Jeffrey Donaldson is just in behind at 3/1 from 5/1 while Gavin Robinson is 5/1.”
