The flamboyant American knockout specialist has sent a tongue-in-cheek video message challenging last season's under-performing Derry team to improve their form or risk facing the full wrath of the aggressive welterweight striker.

A purple belt in Jiu-Jitsu, the controversial veteran mixed martial arts fighter claimed he would come to Ireland to deal with the players in his own unique way if they didn't show fight or respect this season.

"I have a message for the players of Derry City Football Club in Derry, Ireland," began a concerned Perry in his typical aggressive manner.

"We heard over here in America that you all aren't showing no sportsman-like conduct. You're not carrying yourselves well enough or showing fight or respect.

"And in this upcoming season if you don't act right I'm coming to Derry, Ireland and I'm gonna kick you all in the face like I'm kicking a football.

"You show respect this season or you'll have to deal with the American Platinum Perry."

Clearly Perry wants Derry to start the year with a bang and ensure there's no early submissions in the race for silverware.
